

September 2009 Highlights
• There were 4.0 million visitor arrivals to Australia during the nine months to September 2009, a decrease of 2 per cent relative to the same period of the previous year.
• There were 5.5 million visitor arrivals during the year ended 30 September 2009, a decrease of 2 per cent relative to the previous year.
• There were 438,500 visitor arrivals during September 2009, an increase of 9 per cent relative to the same month of the previous year.

New Zealand
• There were 107,700 visitors from New Zealand during September 2009 bringing the total for the nine months to September 2009 to 808,500, flat relative to the same period of the previous year.
Europe
• There were 41,700 visitors from the United Kingdom during September 2009 bringing the total for the nine months to September 2009 to 440,600, a decrease of 3 per cent relative to the same period of the previous year.
• There were 12,900 visitors from Germany during September 2009 bringing the total for the nine months to September 2009 to 109,300, a decrease of 3 per cent relative to the same period of the previous year.
The Americas
• There were 33,600 visitors from the United States of America during September 2009 bringing the total for the nine months to September 2009 to 343,600, an increase of 1 per cent relative to the same period of the previous year.
• There were 7,800 visitors from Canada during September 2009 bringing the total for the nine months to September 2009 to 84,100, a decrease of 5 per cent relative to the same period of the previous year.
Southeast Asia
• There were 20,700 visitors from Singapore during September 2009 bringing the total for the nine months to September 2009 to 195,00, an increase of 4 per cent relative to the same period of the previous year. • There were 16,600 visitors from Malaysia during September 2009 bringing the total for the nine months to September 2009 to 153,300, an increase of 28 per cent relative to the same period of the previous year. • There were 5,500 visitors from Thailand during September 2009 bringing the total for the nine months to September 2009 to 60,500, a decrease of 2 per cent relative to the same period of the previous year.
• There were 8,400 visitors from India during September 2009 bringing the total for the nine months to September 2009 to 93,100, an increase of 7 per cent relative to the same period of the previous year.
Northeast Asia
• There were 36,000 visitors from Japan during September 2009 bringing the total for the nine months to September 2009 to 260,200, a decrease of 25 per cent relative to the same period of the previous year.
• There were 11,300 visitors from Korea during September 2009 bringing the total for the nine months to September 2009 to 133,800, a decrease of 22 per cent relative to the same period of the previous year.
• There were 22,900 visitors from China during September 2009 bringing the total for the nine months to September 2009 to 276,500, flat relative to the same period of the previous year.
• There were 11,000 visitors from Hong Kong during September 2009 bringing the total for the nine months to September 2009 to 116,700, an increase of 9 per cent relative to the same period of the previous year.
