New Zealand

  • There were 112,700 visitors from New Zealand during December 2011 bringing the total for calendar year 2011 to 1,172,700 an increase of 0.9 per cent relative to 2010.

Europe

  • There were 93,000 visitors from the United Kingdom during December 2011 bringing the total for calendar year 2011 to 608,300, a decrease of 5.9 per cent relative to 2010.
  • There were 18,400 visitors from Germany during December 2011 bringing the total for calendar year 2011 to 153,900, a decrease of 3.9 per cent relative to 2010.
  • There were 11,400 visitors from France during December 2011, bringing the total for calendar year 2011 to 94,000, a decrease of 3.4 per cent relative to 2010. 

The Americas

  • There were 52,600 visitors from the United States of America during December 2011 bringing the total for calendar year 2011 to 456,200, a decrease of 3.4 per cent relative to 2010.
  • There were 15,100 visitors from Canada during December 2011 bringing the total for calendar year 2011 to 117,700, a decrease of 3.4 per cent relative to 2010.

Southeast Asia

  • There were 41,600 visitors from Singapore during December 2011 bringing the total for calendar year 2011 to 318,500 an increase of 3.4 per cent relative to 2010.
  • There were 26,600 visitors from Malaysia during December 2011 bringing the total for calendar year 2011 to 241,200 an increase of 1.8 per cent relative to 2010.
  • There were 16,100 visitors from India during December 2011 bringing the total for calendar year 2011 to 148,200, an increase of 6.8 per cent relative to 2010.
  • There were 17,700 visitors from Indonesia during December 2011 bringing the total for calendar year 2011 to 140,400, an increase of 13.2 per cent relative to 2010.
  • There were 6,900 visitors from Thailand during December 2011 bringing the total for calendar year 2011 to 85,400, an increase of 1.5 per cent relative to 2010.

Japan  

  • There were 30,900 visitors from Japan during December 2011 bringing the total for calendar year 2011 to 332,700, a decrease of 16.4 per cent relative to 201.

Northeast Asia

  • There were 47,800 visitors from China during December 2011 bringing the total for calendar year 2011 to 542,000, an increase of 19.4 per cent relative to 2010.
  • There were 20,700 visitors from Korea during December 2011 bringing the total for calendar year 2011 to 198,000, a decrease of 7.5 per cent bto 2010.
  • There were 18,700 visitors from Hong Kong during December 2011 bringing the total for calendar year 2011 to 166,300, an increase of 1.5 per cent relative to 2010.
  • There were 6,500 visitors from Taiwan during December 2011 bringing the total for calendar year 2011 to 84,400, a decrease of 3.1 per cent relative to 2010.

February 2012

  • There were 5.9 million visitor arrivals for year ending February 2012, a decrease of 0.2 per cent relative to the previous year.
  • There were 1.1 million visitor arrivals to Australia during the two months to February 2012, an increase of 2.0 per cent relative to the same period of the previous year.
  • There were 554,400 visitor arrivals during February 2012, a decrease of 0.5 per cent relative to the same month of the previous year.
