In 2016, New Zealand was Australia’s largest inbound market for visitor arrivals, fourth largest market for total visitor spend and third for visitor nights. Visitors from New Zealand generated $2.7 billion in total expenditure in 2015. The Tourism 2020 strategy estimates that the New Zealand market has the potential to grow to between $3.4 billion and $4.2 billion in total expenditure by 2020.
