Australia goes on tour in Germany

12 August 2015

Approximately 400 Aussie Specialists and travel agents across Germany will be updated on SilkAir’s new Singapore to Cairns service as well as Australia’s aquatic and coastal experiences during a roadshow from 8 – 22 September.

The training events – a collaborative effort between Tourism Australia, Singapore Airlines and Tourism Events Queensland – will be held in Munich, Berlin, Kassel, Frankfurt, Dortmund, Duesseldorf and Nuremberg.

In some cities additional product training will be provided by One&Only Hayman Island, THL, Sheraton/Starwood Hotels, Virgin Australia and Hilton Hotels & Resorts.

In 2014 Germany was Australia’s 11th largest inbound market for visitor arrivals, ninth largest market for total visitor expenditure and seventh largest for visitor nights.

Arrivals growth from Germany reached 188,300 for the year ending March 2015. In the same period, German expenditure rose above $1 billion.

Growth in leisure visitation from European markets was driven by visitors for VFR (visiting friends and relatives) purposes in the year ending March 2015. VFR arrivals from Germany increased 14 per cent, while Holiday arrivals increased just four per cent.
