Deputy CEO Frances-Anne Keeler to leave Tourism Australia

Tourism Australia has today announced that its Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Frances-Anne Keeler, has tendered her resignation and will be leaving the organisation at the end of August 2016.
Tourism Australia Managing Director, John O’Sullivan, said after eight years with Tourism Australia, Frances-Anne had decided to focus on developing a career as a non-executive director.
“Frances-Anne has led our international team through a time of significant change to both the tourism industry, international markets and the organisation,” Mr O’Sullivan said.
“She will leave a strong international team based in twelve offices throughout the world, who are all seeing increased arrivals and spend as a result of their hard work. Much of this success has been achieved through partnerships with industry and Federal, State and Territory Governments which Frances-Anne has driven. Since her appointment as Executive General Manager of International in 2011, partnership revenue has more than doubled, and now includes a wide variety of partners.
“In addition Frances-Anne has supported me, the Board and our business in her role as Deputy CEO over the last two years. She will be missed for her knowledge and understanding of the business, her strategic guidance and advice and her passion for our industry and for Australia. I sincerely thank her for her contribution and look forward to working with her on ongoing projects.”
Ms Keeler said that she had absolutely loved her time with Tourism Australia.
“In 2008 I made the decision to move from London to Australia to take a role with Tourism Australia for three years, after which I planned to return to the UK. Instead I have made Australia my home, become an Australian citizen and a passionate advocate for Australia!”
“While I am immensely looking forward to this next stage in my career, I am leaving TA with some sadness. A highlight of the past eight years has been working with the fabulous TA team, and in particular my staff around the world, Australians and non-Australians, who work so hard and are all such passionate advocates for Australia. I have also worked with fantastic partners across the industry and the states and territories, and feel very fortunate to have formed a part of this great industry,” Ms Keeler said.
Frances-Anne will leave her role at the end of August 2016 but will continue to undertake some consulting work for Tourism Australia.
Tourism Australia will not replace the role of Deputy CEO. Instead it will appoint an Executive General Manager of International. Katherine Droga, General Manager of International Operations and Distribution Development, will act in the role whilst this process takes place.
The Trade Events team will report into Penny Lion, General Manager of Business Events Australia, who will join the Tourism Australia executive leadership team as Executive General Manager of Events with responsibility for Business Events, Major Events and Trade Events.
“Both Penny and Katherine are already significant contributors to our events and international businesses. I would like to welcome the contribution Penny will make to the executive leadership team and thank Katherine for agreeing to manage our international and distribution teams while we appoint the new EGM of International and Distribution,” Mr O’Sullivan said.
