Tourism Australia hosted a lunch with industry partners in Sydney last week to welcome the Year of the Dog.

Tourism Australia Managing Director John O'Sullivan said that Lunar New Year was a hugely important event in the Chinese calendar and a holiday period which always resulted in a significant spike in the number of Chinese travellers visiting Australia.

"Based on feedback from our industry partners and the forward projections that have been shared with us, this year will be another busy one with thousands of Chinese visitors taking advantage of the significant increases we've seen in aviation capacity from Greater China in the past 12 months," he said.
