US media and VIPs dine out on stories from Down Under

20 October 2015

Tourism Australia in conjunction with Australia’s state and territory tourism organisations (STOs) and Wine Australia held a series of events in New York last week to update key US travel media on why ‘There’s Nothing Like Australia’.

Kicking off the week was a Quarterly Summit where Australia’s STOs shared new stories with the co-founders and top editors of  'experiential travel' magazine AFAR and discussed the latest trends and topics from Down Under.

The summit was followed by a 'Restaurant Australia' themed dinner where media and VIPs – including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, New York Post, Fodors and the Australian Consul-General in New York – enjoyed a special menu prepared by former Tetsuya chef Noriyuk Sugi accompanied by Angove Family wines.

To end the week 40 media attended a private ‘micro Moth’ storytelling session at New York’s trendy Soho House with Etihad providing a draw to win a flight to Australia.
