Tourism Australia’s Americas team travelled to Brazil last week to conduct a series of meetings with nearly 20 Brazilian trade and PR partners in preparation for the launch of TV telenovela Totalmente Demais.
The show, which premiered on Monday 9 November on Brazilian television network Globo Rede, was Brazil’s top trending topic on Twitter and features Australia in three episodes airing this week.
Tourism Australia also hosted trade, media and state and government representatives at an exclusive premiere of the TV show at the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro.
The event featured a Nada se compare a Australia (Nothing Like Australia) photo booth which shared animated gifs and printed over 250 iconic Australian pictures from partners Destination New South Wales and Tourism and Events Queensland.
Tourism Australia Managing Director John O’Sullivan said Brazil was a fast growing emerging tourism market for Australia and the show will help to further boost the attractiveness of Australia as a travel destination.
"Australia is a destination that is now being discovered by Brazilians – we have seen Brazilian visitor arrivals and spend quadruple in the past 10 years and what’s more the market is also one of the top three luxury markets for Australia behind the USA and China,” Mr O’Sullivan said.
For the year ending September 2015, visitor arrivals from Brazil grew almost 13 per cent to 46,800 compared with the previous year.
Special offers from six participating partners featured in the show are available on the Totalmente Australia campaign page.
