Figures released today by Tourism Research Australia (TRA), reveal a continuation of strong growth in domestic travel, with overnight expenditure up five per cent to $58.3 billion for the March 2016 year end.
The solid growth follows the International Visitor Survey released earlier this month by TRA that saw international visitor spend up 16.7 percent to $37.9 billion.
The combined domestic and international spend now stands at $96.2 billion—up $8 billion over the same period last year—indicating the industry to be on track to reach the Tourism 2020 goal of $115 billion in annual visitor spend.
