Key trends by market are outlined below.

New Zealand

  • There were 113,200 visitors from New Zealand during September 2014, bringing the total for the nine months to September to 894,400, an increase of 4.4 per cent relative to the same period of the previous year.

Europe

  • There were 42,200 visitors from the United Kingdom during September 2014, bringing the total for the nine months to September to 432,900, an increase of 2.7 per cent relative to the same period previous year.
  • There were 14,800 visitors from Germany during September 2014, bringing the total for the nine months to September to 127,200, an increase of 11.4 per cent relative to the same period previous year.
  • There were 8,300 visitors from France during September 2014, bringing the total for the nine months to September to 82,300 an increase of 7.7 per cent relative to the same period previous year.

The Americas

  • There were 35,000 visitors from the United States of America during September 2014, bringing the total for the nine months to September to 386,300, an increase of 10.4 per cent relative to the same period previous year.
  • There were 8,100 visitors from Canada during September 2014, bringing the total for the nine months to September to 93,700, an increase of 7.9 per cent relative to the same period previous year.

Southeast Asia

  • There were 29,000 visitors from Singapore during September 2014, bringing the total for the nine months to September to 251,500, an increase of 12.8 per cent relative to the same period previous year.
  • There were 28,300 visitors from Malaysia during September 2014, bringing the total for the nine months to September to 231,100, an increase of 23.7 per cent relative to the same period previous year.
  • There were 14,200 visitors from India during September 2014, bringing the total for the nine months to September to 140,400, an increase of 17.8 per cent relative to the same period previous year.
  • There were 10,500 visitors from Indonesia during September 2014, bringing the total for the nine months to September to 111,600, an increase of 7.8 per cent relative to the same period previous year.
  • There were 5,000 visitors from Thailand during September 2014, bringing the total for the nine months to September to 55,500, an increase of 1.3 per cent relative to the same period previous year.

Japan and Korea

  • There were 24,600 visitors from Japan during September 2014, bringing the total for the nine months to September to 238,800, an increase of 2.0 per cent relative to the same period previous year.
  • There were 15,600 visitors from Korea during September 2014, bringing the total for the nine months to September to 147,000, an increase of 1.9 per cent relative to the same period previous year.

Greater China

  • There were 61,800 visitors from China during September 2014, bringing the total for the nine months to September to 641,000, an increase of 14.3 per cent relative to the same period previous year.
  • There were 13,300 visitors from Hong Kong during September 2014, bringing the total for the nine months to September to 147,900, an increase of 13.1 per cent relative to the same period previous year.
  • There were 9,700 visitors from Taiwan during September 2014, bringing the total for the nine months to September to 92,100, an increase of 11.9 per cent relative to the same period previous year.
