Leisure Arrivals Continuing To Drive International Growth

12 October 2016
Australia welcomed 7.99 million visitor arrivals for the year ending August 2016, an increase of 10.9 per cent or an extra 786,000 visitors relative to the previous year.
Leisure arrivals continued to drive international arrivals growth with an increase of 15.3 per cent over the 12 month period.
“With our inbound visitor numbers just a few thousand arrivals shy of eight million, Australia's international appeal has arguably never been stronger,” said John O’Sullivan, Managing Director Tourism Australia.
“Through the sharp focus being placed upon food and wine and, now, aquatic and coastal experiences, Australia is really playing to its strengths and the results we are seeing are undoubtedly helping to drive visitor demand.”
