Tourism Australia’s premier event for promoting the country’s best tourism attractions to the Indian travel industry is being held this week with 75 Australian tourism businesses meeting with 87 travel companies from Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Pune and Jaipur.
The 16th edition of Tourism Australia’s India Travel Mission (ITM18) is being held in in Jaipur from 20 to 23 August with hotels, airlines, state and regional tourism boards and attractions from around Australia participating in over 6,500 business appointments across the three days.
A spotlight will also be shone on the Signature Experiences of Australia, a series of collections promoting Australia’s outstanding tourism experiences within a variety of niche areas and special interest categories.
“This year ITM has the largest ever delegation of Australian tourism suppliers and that speaks volumes of the potential of India as a key inbound market for Australia,” said Nishant Kashikar, Country Manager, India and Gulf, Tourism Australia.
“The introduction of Signature Experiences and participation of new products at ITM18 alongside the continued commitment of tourism suppliers who have been investing in India over the past decade is all part of a cohesive effort to bring Australian tourism experiences to high value Indian travellers.
“Our focus for the year ahead is to sustain the growth in arrivals and drive yield through our strategic trade and consumer initiatives.”
Tourism Australia also manages a trade engagement program in India through the Aussie Specialist Program and provides opportunities for select frontline staff and product teams to experience Australia first-hand through other key trade events including Corroboree Asia, to be held next week on the Gold Coast.
India is currently Australia’s fastest growing inbound tourism market recording a double-digit growth in arrival and spend for the fourth consecutive year. Arrivals from India to Australia grew by 19.3 per cent for the year ended May 2018 with an influx of 330,700 visitors, making it the 8th largest inbound market for Australia.
