The Indigenous Tourism Champions are a selection of export ready businesses offering experiences delivered by Aboriginal people. To be included as a ‘Champion,’ businesses must be nominated by their State and Territory Tourism Organisations and then meet the stringent criteria of membership. This process ensures that all Indigenous Tourism Champions are able to deliver a quality experience that meets the needs and expectations of trade and international visitors. Once approved, Champions are exclusively eligible to participate in Tourism Australia’s Aboriginal tourism marketing initiatives, which include:
- trade events;
- road shows;
- trade training initiatives;
- online marketing;
- print marketing; and
- other marketing initiatives.
There are approximately 57 Indigenous Tourism Champions located throughout Australia.
The Champions offer a diversity of experiences which have immense appeal and leave a lasting impression.
The Indigenous Tourism Champions aim to demonstrate that small business operators and Indigenous tourism operators in particular, are reliable business partners with strong industry knowledge who can make a valuable contribution to wholesale and inbound programs.
