Visitor arrival highlights for May 2016

  • There were 542,000 visitor arrivals during May 2016, an increase of 11.4 per cent relative to the same period of the previous year.
  • This brings us to 7.78 million visitor arrivals for year ending May 2016, an increase of 9.6 per cent relative to the previous year. This represents an extra 682,000 visitors on the previous year. 
  • Leisure arrivals (Holiday + VFR) continued to drive international arrivals growth, with an increase of 12.7 per cent over the 12 month period. Business travel is showing signs of softening, with declines of 4.7 per cent for the same period.
