In October 2026, Darwin/Garramilla will host 300 travel agents from key international tourism markets around the world to experience firsthand what Australia has to offer as a holiday destination, from our world class food, to our unique cultural offerings and natural attractions.
These agents will travel to Darwin for Tourism Australia’s signature event, G’day Australia, where they will meet tourism operators from around the country before visiting other destinations around Australia as part of a familiarisation program supported by State and Territory Tourism Organisations.
Minister for Trade and Tourism, Senator the Hon Don Farrell, said G’day Australia brings the agents who are selling Australian holidays to our shores so they can share first-hand how wonderful the natural attractions, food and drink, and cultural experiences we have to offer truly are.
“The Aussie Specialist Program, combined with events like G’day Australia, give us an edge over other destinations around the world,” Mr Farrell said.
“We know this event works, driving some $30m in spend, and we can’t wait to welcome 300 agents to Darwin next year.”
Tourism Australia Executive General Manager, Global Markets & Business Events Australia, Robin Mack, said the agents who take part in G’day Australia already specialise in selling Australian holidays but more than half who take part in the event have never visited the destination for themselves.
“At Tourism Australia we prefer to show not tell what we have to offer as a holiday destination and that’s why it is really important to bring travel agents here to Australia to see just how incredible Australia is,” Mr Mack said.
“We know this event works as 100 per cent of the agents have walked away in the past saying they intend to sell more of Australia as a result of attending, which is critically important in an increasingly competitive global tourism world.
“We look forward to working with Tourism Northern Territory as we plan a memorable G’day Australia in Darwin next October.”
NT Minister for Tourism and Hospitality Marie-Clare Boothby said hosting G’day Australia is a prime opportunity to support local tourism operators by directly connecting them with hundreds of international travel agents.
“We’re proud that the Northern Territory will host G’day Australia next year for the first time ever, putting our destination front and centre on the global stage,” Ms Boothby said.
“This is another great example of how we’re curating a calendar of events to showcase the Territory during the shoulder season, helping to extend visitation beyond the traditional peak and build year-round economic strength for our tourism industry.
“From spectacular landscapes and authentic Aboriginal culture to unique wildlife and military history, the NT offers a true Australian experience, and we can’t wait for these travel agents to see it firsthand.”
Tourism NT CEO Suzana Bishop said the announcement forms an exciting part of the NT’s new strategy to increase international visitation during off peak periods.
“Tourism NT is delighted to see Darwin host this important event and looks forward to welcoming the 300 international travel agents next year and showing them our best kept secrets,” Ms Bishop said.
“G’Day Australia will further highlight the Northern Territory as a must-visit destination, with agents to experience the best of the NT. While the Northern Territory is renowned for its stunning waterfalls, national parks and rich Aboriginal cultural experiences, it offers so much more. As a vibrant melting pot, the NT features a flourishing food scene, exciting events calendar and the best dark sky tourism offerings in the country. With its unique and diverse attractions, the NT truly has something for everyone.
“The event is an opportunity to market the Territory to international visitors through agents who will have experienced the uniqueness of the NT themselves. They will no doubt come away surprised and delighted.”
G'day Australia provides an invaluable opportunity for around 100 Australian operators to showcase their product to qualified Aussie Specialist travel agents from Asia and New Zealand to North America, Europe and the UK.
With support from State and Territory Organisation representatives, agents will also have the chance to participate in a pre or post-event familiarisation program where they can experience for themselves the incredible tourism products on offer right around Australia.
G’day Australia 2026 will be delivered by Tourism Australia in partnership with Tourism Northern Territory.
