Tourism Australia appoints new executives
Tanya Bowes joins Tourism Australia as Executive General Manager (EGM) Corporate Affairs and is responsible for external and internal communication, government engagement and Indigenous affairs.
Tanya’s appointment follows seven years as Director of Corporate Affairs at CSIRO, Australia’s national science agency, where she led the function responsible for communications strategy, stakeholder engagement, government relations, media relations, reputation and brand, marketing and digital and internal communications.
She has previously led communications in Australia as well as across Japan and Asia Pacific, the United Kingdom and Europe for organisations including Destination NSW, Vodafone, 3 mobile and PeopleSoft.
Geoff Buchanan has been appointed Executive General Manager Corporate Services and is responsible for Tourism Australia’s central functions including Finance, Procurement, IT, Legal, and Administration following a period of acting in the role.
Having worked across financial institutions, ASX listed companies and professional advisory services at the CEO, CFO, COO and board level, Geoff is a highly commercial and strategic manager with a strong track record of delivering large-scale change management programs and successfully navigating complex businesses through significant challenges.
