Business Events Australia is a specialist business unit of Tourism Australia, dedicated to promoting Australia internationally as a business events destination.
Business Events Australia delivers marketing, partnership and distribution activities to raise international awareness and consideration of Australia as a business events destination. Tourism Australia focuses on the international business events markets that can provide the highest return on investment for Australia. Key markets for Business Events Australia are China, North America, UK/Europe and New Zealand.
Economic contribution and potential
Business events are major contributors to the Australian visitor economy. International business events visitors spend on average twice as much as leisure visitors during their trip to Australia. In addition, business events provide benefits to Australia beyond the economic. They showcase Australia’s capabilities in event delivery and key knowledge sectors, develop trade and investment relationships, and are catalysts for information sharing. In addition, business events provide a platform for international visitors to extend their stay in Australia for leisure purposes, and establishes strong connections that can lead to return visitation to Australia in future.
Tourism Australia’s activity
Tourism Australia’s activities include brand and content marketing, educational visits, trade engagement and events that provide opportunities for Australia’s business events industry to meet with international business events planners and media to grow their business.
There are many ways the Australian industry can work with Tourism Australia including exhibiting on the Australia stand at international business events trade shows and attending Tourism Australia’s own events like the Business Events Australia Greater China Showcase and Dreamtime, its signature incentive showcase.

Advance Program
Tourism Australia’s Advance Program offers the Australian business events industry the opportunity to leverage Tourism Australia’s international marketing expertise in order to grow the number of delegates to confirmed events taking place in Australia, and the number of international business events secured for Australia. Business Events Bid Fund Program
Tourism Australia’s Business Events Bid Fund Program (BFP) is designed to increase the conversion of bids for new international business events in Australia through the offer of financial support at the critical bidding stage. The BFP supports the conversion of new business in situations where Australia is bidding against international competitors for the right to host the business event.
