Americans come say G’day at Australia House at SXSW
Thousands of people visited ‘Australia House’ at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas last week to experience the best from Down Under as part of G’Day USA, Australia’s public and economic diplomacy program in the United States.
Australia House @ SXSW, located in the heart of the action, hosted a series of experiences, performances, speeches and interactive displays by some of Australia’s leading experts in the film, music and innovation sectors.
The weeklong activation also showcased a range of food, wine and tourism experiences from around the country across more than 20 events with well-known Australian chefs and Friends of Australia.
Restaurant Orana Chef Jock Zonfrillo curated dishes bringing the oldest food culture on earth to life and guests were immersed in experiences from shucking fresh oysters to meeting West Australian born Matt Stone at the Margaret River Gourmet Escape space.
Expanding on Australia's culinary story, Chef Zonfrillo appeared on many broadcast shows before he joined the Food as a Force to Connect in Australia panel.
Phil Rosenthal, host of the Netflix series "Somebody Feed Phil" and US-French Chef Dominique Crenn (Atelier Crenn) joined Chef Zonfrillo on the panel before a special wine tasting and sampling of Australia’s native ingredients.
